St. Luke's Hospital began as a dream to provide low-cost medical attention to children. Today, construction is underway and the state-of-the-art, six-story hospital is scheduled to open in 2012.
When the general hospital is complete, it will be able to accommodate hundreds of patients, offer full emergency services including several low-cost and free services, and will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
St. Luke's Hospital will also assist tremendously in the ongoing rescue efforts that Hope of Life International conducts on a daily basis. Last year alone, 800 children were rescued and over 5,000 children have been rescued in the last six years.
Of the 800 children rescued last year, 40 didn't make it. But each year, the percentage of those saved increases as the ministry receives more funding and it is expected that the number of children lost will drastically decrease once the hospital is open to the community.
Currently, Hope of Life International utilizes the Liberty Nutritional Rescue Center to provide immediate medical attention and corrective surgeries for children with cleft lips and palates. The opening of St. Luke's Hospital will greatly increase the number of children the ministry is able to rescue, and provide the best medical care possible in emergency situations.
